Salamanca and Sierra de Francia Circuit

Departure at the scheduled time for Salamanca. Brief stops en route. Arrival at the hotel, room allocation, and lunch. Free afternoon for an initial stroll through this university city, a World Heritage Site. Dinner and overnight stay.

Breakfast. In the morning, guided tour of Salamanca. We will begin in its spectacular Plaza Mayor, one of the most beautiful in Europe. We will visit the Casa de las Conchas (admission included) and tour the city’s two cathedrals: the old one, with its Romanesque charm; and the new one, in the Gothic style (admission included). We will end at the University, one of the oldest in the world. Lunch at the hotel. In the afternoon, depart for La Alberca, one of the most beautiful villages in Spain, with cobblestone streets, traditional houses, and a charming main square. Return to the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.

Breakfast. Depart for the Arribes del Duero. We will take a spectacular river cruise (entrance included) through one of the most beautiful and inaccessible landscapes of the Douro River, with explanations about the fauna, flora, and geology. Wine tasting at the end. Lunch at a restaurant. In the afternoon, guided tour of Miranda do Douro, a Portuguese fortified city with medieval charm. We will visit its ancient cathedral (entrance included), stroll through the old town, and visit the Museo da Terra de Miranda (entrance included). Return to the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.

Breakfast. Excursion to Peña de Francia, a place of great spiritual and scenic value. We will visit the monastery and sanctuary (admission included), with its chapels, cloister, and exhibition hall. Lunch at a restaurant. In the afternoon, visit San Martín del Castañar. Its medieval castle is noteworthy (admission included), now an interpretation center for the Sierras de Béjar y Francia Biosphere Reserve. Walk through its streets steeped in history. Return to the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.

Breakfast. Departure for Miranda del Castañar. We will visit its Plaza Mayor and the unique Plaza de Toros (visit included), both steeped in tradition and popular architecture. Return to the hotel for lunch. In the afternoon, visit Peñaranda de Bracamonte, a Historic-Artistic Site with beautiful arcaded squares and a well-preserved old town. Return to the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.
