Departure at the scheduled time for the Community of Madrid, making brief stops en route. Arrival at the hotel, room allocation, and lunch. In the afternoon, we will visit Chinchón, famous for its Plaza Mayor, considered one of the most beautiful squares in the world. We will visit the Clock Tower, a vestige of the church destroyed during the Peninsular War, and the Lope de Vega Theater, the setting for plays by the famous playwright. Return to the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.
Breakfast. Departure to explore Madrid of the Habsburgs with a local guide. On this tour between the Plaza Mayor and the Plaza de Oriente, we will discover 17th-century palaces and convents. We will pass by the San Miguel Market and visit the Royal Palace (admission included), exploring its impressive halls. Lunch at a restaurant. In the afternoon, we will enjoy a walk through Retiro Park, with its pond, the Crystal Palace, and the monument to Alfonso XII. Free time to continue exploring Madrid. Return to the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.
Breakfast. Departure for Ávila, a walled city and World Heritage Site. We will visit the Cathedral (entrance included), the Plaza del Mercado Chico, and the Church of Santa Teresa. Lunch at a restaurant. In the afternoon, we will continue to Segovia, where we will admire the Roman Aqueduct, the Alcázar (entrance included), and the Cathedral. We will tour the Jewish Quarter, one of the oldest in Spain. Return to the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.
Breakfast. Departure for Alcalá de Henares, the birthplace of Miguel de Cervantes. We will visit the University (admission included) and the Cervantes Birthplace Museum (admission included). Lunch at the hotel. In the afternoon, depart for Aranjuez, where we will visit the Royal Palace (admission included), surrounded by stunning gardens, and explore its history as the residence of the royal family. Return to the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.
Breakfast. Departure to visit the Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial (admission included), considered one of the Wonders of the World and a World Heritage Site. Lunch at the hotel. In the afternoon, depart for Toledo, City of Three Cultures. We will visit the Cathedral (admission included) and the Church of Santo Tomé (admission included), home to El Greco’s “The Burial of Count Orgaz.” Return to the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.
