Departure from the origin point towards La Rioja. Brief stops en route. Arrival at the hotel, room allocation and lunch. In the afternoon, we will visit the Valvanera Monastery (admission included), which houses the patron saint of La Rioja. Located in a spectacular natural setting, it is run by Benedictine monks and is a center of Marian pilgrimage. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
Breakfast. In the morning, departure to visit Logroño. We will start at the Revellín Wall, visiting the Revellín Cube (admission included), where we will learn about the city’s military history. We will continue along Portales Street until we reach the Co-Cathedral of Santa María (admission included), with its imposing main altarpiece. We will end the tour on the emblematic Ruavieja Street, known for its old cellars. Lunch at the hotel. In the afternoon, we will depart for Haro, a city known for being the capital of Rioja wine. We will see its old town, declared a Historic-Artistic Site, with stately homes, the Plaza de la Paz, the Torre de los Presos, and the exterior of the Santo Tomás Church. We will visit the Beronia Winery (admission and tasting included), famous for its innovative architecture and commitment to quality wine. Return to the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.
Breakfast. In the morning, visit Briones, one of the most beautiful villages in La Rioja, with magnificent views and architecture from the 15th to the 18th centuries. We will visit the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción (admission included) and the Hermitage of San Juan (admission included), with its Baroque altarpiece. Lunch at the hotel. In the afternoon, we will depart for Santo Domingo de la Calzada. We will stroll through the old town, crossing one of the ancient gates in the city wall, and visit the Plaza de España and the Town Hall. We will visit the Cathedral (admission included), where the remains of the town’s patron saint rest. Return to the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.
