Cáceres and Mérida Circuit

Departure at the scheduled time for Extremadura. Brief stops en route. Arrival at the hotel, room allocation and lunch. In the afternoon, free time to begin exploring the city of Cáceres. Dinner and overnight stay.

Breakfast. Guided tour of Cáceres, declared a World Heritage Site. We will tour its old town, full of palaces, mansions, churches, and convents. We will visit the Co-Cathedral of Santa María (admission included), a 13th-century Gothic gem. Lunch at the hotel. In the afternoon, visit the Los Barruecos Natural Monument in Malpartida de Cáceres, the natural setting for the series “Game of Thrones.” We’ll visit the Vostell Museum (admission included) and stroll through its charming town center. We’ll taste the traditional “Patatera” cheese at a local factory. Afterward, we’ll visit the El Casar cheese factory and the Cheese Museum (admission included), where we’ll learn about the production process of the iconic Torta del Casar, with a tasting included. Return to the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.

Breakfast. Departure for Mérida for a comprehensive guided tour. We’ll discover its main Roman remains: the Roman Amphitheater and Theater (admission included), built in the 1st century BC and still used for cultural performances. We’ll continue to the National Museum of Roman Art (admission included), one of the most important museums of its kind in Spain. Lunch at the hotel. In the afternoon, visit Almendralejo, known as the “Capital of Romanticism.” We’ll stroll through its whitewashed streets and discover its unique bullring with a wine cellar beneath its stands, as well as the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Mercy. Return to the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.
